The Stone Mountain Coven is an Alexandrian British Traditional Witchcraft coven founded in October 2009.

Goals

Our aim is to experience the Mysteries of Traditional Craft within the setting of the Priesthood of the Wica, assisting one another through the initiatory crucible and revering the Gods of the Wica in the Old Way.

The Stone Mountain Coven is explicitly a training coven, with the intentions of training competent priestesses and priests in the praxis and lore of Tradition and Lineage.

Tradition

Our coven has verifiable lineage and training that traces back to Alex and Maxine Sanders, the founders of the Alexandrian Tradition, and we practice within the praxis of that Tradition, as passed to us by our elders and upline.

Lineage

Our coven is part of the Du Bandia Grasail lineage. We are part of the Thalia Kyraphia family of covens based out of Oregon. This coven’s elder is a high priest of the Second Degree, with this coven hived in accordance to the Traditions of our line, and overseen by Lady Sophia of Thalia Kyraphia.

Petitions for Dedication

Anyone who has successfully completed the Seekers Training courses of the Axis Mundi Outer Court is eligible to submit a Petition for Dedication to the coven. This must be submitted within three years of completing the Seekers Training, and it must be a formal written petition describing what has been learned about the Tradition, and why the Seeker feels this coven and Tradition are right for him or her.

Training

Training within the coven context is wholly unlike the kind of training received in Seekers Training. It is hands-on, experiential and far more informal than the academic discussion model of the Seekers Training. The Dedicant and Initiate will be pushed far past his comfortable learning zones in this training, and will be expected to learn how to adapt to these experience, as part of learning the Mystery Tradition we teach and practice.

Dedicants are expected to put forth proper efforts in their learning - the Dedicant status is not one in which the student may remain for long. Either one is actively studying for initiation, or the Dedicant is asked to step back from active coven participation until they are ready to dedicate the time and energy expected of all Dedicants.

Practice

The witches of the Stone Mountain Coven are expected to attend our monthly Esbat rites, and to make a good faith effort to attend our Sabbats. There is work to be done in each of them, and we have taken oaths to be the ones to do that work.
